Which versions of Hyper-V do you support?

We support all versions that are currently supported by the manufacturer Microsoft. You can find a complete list of our supported operating systems in our system requirements.

Can your software take snapshots of Hyper-V virtual machines?
Yes, the NovaStor DataCenter software supports Microsoft Hyper-V snapshots. The use of Hyper-V snapshots and Resilient Change Tracking (RCT) for virtual machines is used by NovaStor for consistent and high-performance data backup.
Can you restore a single file from a VM without restoring the entire VM?
Yes, the NovaStor software supports granular restore (single file restore) from VMware and Hyper-V snapshot backups without having to restore the entire VM.

It is also possible to restore files from Hyper-V backups to another computer (P2V and V2P support).
Can you exclude disks in a VM to backup?
 
Yes, NovaStor DataCenter does have the option to exclude disks in your VM backup.
Can I perform incremental backups of a VM?
Incremental backups can be performed on all supported Hyper-V versions. For the best performance with incremental backups, we recommend using the latest version of Windows Server. 
How many VMs can be backed up with NovaStor DataCenter?
You can back up any number of VMs to the same Hyper-V host.
Should virtual machines be shut down during a backup of the Hyper-V environment?
No, thanks to snapshot technology, your VMs can also be backed up during operation without any restrictions.
Can the backup of a Hyper-V VM also be restored to another server?
You can easily migrate a VM by restoring the backup to another system.
