Yes, NovaStor products can restore full database backup to an alternate location before importing to another SQL server.
Can virtual environments be protected with Microsoft SQL?
To protect virtual environments with Microsoft SQL and take full advantage of the application-specific VSS writer / SQL plugin within our SQL backup software solutions, we recommend running our software on the hypervisor system hosting the virtual environment.
What is a VSS Writer?
VSS stands for Volume Shadow Copy Service and is the writer developed by Microsoft for its SQL Server application. However, NovaStor's SQL backup solutions use this with an integrated plug-in. This type of backup, comparable to the backup of an application after a proper shutdown, is a unified application: That is, this method provides the optimal backup (without actually shutting down) with all data captured simultaneously and the memory content stored in a file.
